The Donald W. Reynolds Library now has kilowatt meters available for checkout. Kilowatt meters measure the amount of energy used by appliances in a home and are way for people to learn about energy efficiency.
Patrons can check out a meter, plug it in, then plug an appliance into the meter to determine how much energy that particular appliance uses. When checking out a meter, Library patrons will receive educational information provided by the Arkansas Energy Office. This is part of a state-wide energy education program by the Arkansas Energy Office. The purpose of the program is to inform Arkansans about energy use and to reduce energy use.
North Arkansas Electric Cooperative has provided the Library with 5 meters to start. Another 10 meters are expected from the Arkansas Energy Office soon. To check out a meter, visit the Information Desk at the Donald W. Reynolds Library. Meters can be checked out for one week using a Baxter County Library card.
